When committing to anything that takes portable restroom operators away from work, they want to know if it’s worth their time and money. In short, is attending industry tradeshows worth it? The answer can be a resounding yes when you identify key challenges you can solve while you’re there.
Inspecting the latest portable restrooms and pumper trucks is only one highlight of events. The real value comes from gleaning industry insights, joining educational sessions, and networking with PROs, vendors, and professionals in related fields. Here’s why…
Sharpen Your Skills (And Competitive Edge)
Joining educational sessions tailored to portable sanitation can help you maximize tradeshow attendance. The speakers talk the language of portable sanitation and share real-life examples. You can chat with other PROs there to learn how to accomplish the same things. Look for sessions to help you or managers improve the workforce and efficiency or grow your revenue.
Build Connections That Open Doors to Opportunities and Insights
Tradeshows are one of the only places you’ll be surrounded by like-minded professionals and be able to exchange ideas with fellow PROs. Then, you can turn around and meet a regional entrepreneur who happens to sponsor large-scale events. Along with hearing how another portable restroom operator successfully handled new regulations, networking with the right people can lead to joint ventures, like partnering on an outdoor event or getting a call when disaster relief efforts need more units.
Find Innovative Solutions to Challenges
Getting your hands on the newest restroom trailers or trucks and comparing them to your current setup is exciting and a benefit of attending tradeshows. But make sure you hit the spots related to your challenges.
For example, let’s say a portable restroom owner and driver-manager are attending the Water & Wastewater Equipment, Treatment & Transport Show (WWETT) in February. The owner wants to expand, and the driver has recently begun managing the team.
They decide to use WWETT to:
- Compare growth options: The owner plans to join panel discussions with PROs and educational sessions exploring the best times to expand, types of product lines, and marketing strategies for restroom trailer rentals. They map out exhibits to visit and realize they can hit up several restroom trailer manufacturers in the various exhibit halls .
- Tackle workforce issues: Both decide to attend sessions introducing management techniques for holding people accountable and measuring performance. They can also learn how to start an apprentice program and build a training culture to develop their workforce.
- Strategize: They look forward to learning ways to use ChatGPT and artificial intelligence in the field and office to save time and improve customer satisfaction. Another session shares the latest portable sanitation benchmark results, including which categories drive profits with instructions for comparative analysis.

Attending Industry Tradeshows Is Worth It For Many
When you attend tradeshows with a purpose, you can walk away knowing you got your money’s worth and had a good time. WWETT is one of the best tradeshows for pumpers to attend. This year, it’s in Indiana from February 17 to 20, 2025.
The Portable Sanitation Association International (PSAI) Nuts & Bolts educational conference takes place in Scottsdale, Arizona on February 3 to 5, 2025, and the PSAI annual event follows November 4 to 6, 2025, in Daytona, Florida.
