April 8, 2024INFOGRAPHIC: Planning for Your Marketing Spend
April 22, 2024Portable restroom trailer layouts vary from standard to upscale. A startup or small business buying its first unit may prefer a scaled-down trailer that appeals to multiple markets. In contrast, an established company may add a luxury model to target high-end clients.
The various configurations also have options for the number of male and female toilets. Some have family spaces as well. With so many choices, making the right decision is challenging. In this article, we explore interior options for small and large units.
Standard Portable Restroom Trailer Layouts
Many PROs start by purchasing restroom trailers with two to four stalls. These multi-purpose units are suitable for small events and come in various configurations. For instance, a two-unit trailer ranges from about eight to 12 feet wide. While the standard size of around 48 inches per stall is comfortable, PROs that cater to family events may gain a competitive edge by upgrading to slightly larger units. One example is NuConcepts, which offers Prestige restroom trailers. These add six inches of width and offer a roomier layout.
Standard trailers with up to four stations have private exterior doors for each stall. Typically, the mechanical room has a separate access door. A three-person trailer usually provides two female and one male station. However, you can choose a unisex configuration. Some vendors allow flexibility for all unisex units.
The individual stalls contain a sink, and the male stations have urinals. More spacious restrooms may have wastebasket cutouts. Three- and four-stall trailers sometimes use corner sinks. When looking at restroom trailer layouts, remember to consider door placement. Many units allow for curbside use, so people don’t need to enter a roadway to go into the restroom. Others, like the LuxLav right island trailer, separate the two exterior doors, providing a bit more privacy at the entry.
Larger Trailer Configurations
Larger standard trailers provide separate outdoor entries for males and females, and each side has individual stalls. These range in size from five to 10 stations and are similar to a public restroom. The layouts include sinks in both sections and urinals in male or unisex stalls. Again, the mechanical room typically has a separate exterior door.
These trailers offer basic public event interiors and include solutions for disaster relief, campgrounds, and related use cases. But if you’re looking for upscale models, the top luxury trailer brands sell solutions with multiple private units and customizable layouts.

Luxury Restroom Trailer Layouts
Whereas standard restroom trailer layouts prioritize efficiency, luxury units showcase in-demand amenities. Size-wise, these units usually have more spacious interiors. For example, you could expect the female stations to have expanded vanity spaces and many vendors, including JAG Mobile Solutions, to offer several floor plans from which you can choose.
Although multiple private doors are less common on larger units, some luxury models offer these for VIP trailers. These high-end options provide the most privacy with individual restrooms or changing stations. Understanding your customers’ needs is vital when selecting a luxury trailer.
Finding the Ideal Trailer Layout
Ultimately, you want your customers to enter your restroom trailer pleasantly surprised. Think about how you will market your units and who your ideal customers are, then look for restroom trailer layouts that fit their needs.
