- Lollapalooza — A four-day music festival held in Chicago, Lollapalooza is not a made up word. It’s defined as an extraordinary or unusual thing, person or event.
- Bumbershoot — A Labor Day weekend music and arts festival in Seattle, Bumbershoot is a Seattle-born combination of “umbrella” and “parachute.”
- Bonnaroo — A music and arts festival held in Manchester, Tennessee, Bonnaroo is a term from Louisiana and Creole culture that means “a really good time.”

- La Tomatina (Spain) — A massive tomato fight held in the streets of Bunol
- Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling (England) — A contest in Gloucestershire where competitors roll large Gouda cheese wheels down a hill and follow them to the bottom
