Comparing Portable Restroom Units

There’s not a one-size-fits-all unit in the portable restroom rental industry. There are different kinds of units designed for different customers and market segments. Most business owners have fleets that contain a combination of these portable toilet options.

Comparing Restroom Units

Standard

A basic portable restroom that makes up the core of almost every rental company. Standard units contain a static-type waste tank and toilet paper dispenser. Other features can include a mirror, coat hook, and hand sanitizer.

Key Characteristics: Durability, Adequate Ventilation, Appealing Design

Target Market: Construction & Industrial

Deluxe

Like the standard unit but with more bells and whistles. Deluxe units often include handwashing sinks, hands-free flushable tanks, and solar lighting. Other add-ons are also available. The larger size of deluxe units makes them more appealing for festivals, fairs, weddings, and to people with children.

Key Characteristics: Enhanced Amenities, Additional Space

Target Market: Special Events

ADA and Handicap-Accessible

A unit designed to accommodate people with physical disabilities or mobility impairments. ADA and handicap-accessible units are the largest freestanding units and provide easy access and plenty of room to maneuver. Amenities sometimes include a baby-changing station, hand sanitizer, and more.

Key Characteristics: Roll-In Ground Level Access, Oversized and Self-Closing Door, Ample Interior Space, Interior Handrails

Target Market: Anywhere law requires handicap-accessible facilities

Luxury Trailers

Portable sanitation on wheels. Luxury trailers are a high-end alternative to porta-potties that provide a “like-home” experience, including amenities like flushing toilets/urinals, showers, and temperature control. Luxury trailers aren’t as common but can be profitable for businesses if the local customer base is right.

Key Characteristics: Multi-Person Access, Heating & Air Conditioning, Shower Stalls, Decorative Finishes

Target Market: High-End Construction Projects and Special Events

I like that you talked about porta-potty rentals with handwashing sinks, hands-free flushable tanks, and solar lighting, as well as other add-ons and they are called the deluxe option. It seems like looking for those types of portable toilets would be a great choice so that people will have an area where they can wash their hands after using them for hygienic purposes. I will share this information with a friend of mine because they might have to rent amenities like those for their wedding since it will be held in an open area.

I like that you talk about portable restrooms that are ADA and handicap accessible to accommodate people with physical disabilities or mobility impairments. I would love to find a company that will offer them when I rent portable restrooms for my wedding day. Because I have guests on our lists wherein are seniors in those who are in wheelchairs.
